Rocky adored the snowfall we got that first week & didn't want to come inside!

Found wandering along Interstate 40 in (you guessed it) Little Rock, Arkansas with 2 littermates.  The other two found homes locally but when Dennis and I got the call to go pick him up, we went.  

Local animal shelters apparently do not adopt GSDs out to the general public.  Either someone claiming to be the owner or a rescue would need to step up in order to save this lovable boy. So on the day after Christmas, we made the 10 plus hour round trip to save him. 

Who would dump 6 month old puppies at Christmas time?  I suspect a backyard breeder found out its not easy to sell puppies.  They just keep getting bigger and eating more and behaving as puppies do, getting underfoot, chewing and wrestling and digging and needing individual attention.  It got to be too much for the bad breeder so they were dumped.  :-(

Happily the other two found homes as well.  And we could not be more pleased with our Rock-star.  He is a love and ironically (considering his name Lil' Rock) has turned out to be a rather large dog...the largest of our pack of 5 German Shepherds.  He gets along with all of them and I really must post a video of he and brother Mick singing and wrestling.  All the dogs adore Rocky but he and Mick (also a rescue adopted in May of 2007) have a special bond.
